Membership – Information
Gawler U3A (University of the Third Age) is a self-help organisation providing learning, creative and leisure opportunities in a friendly environment for people in their active retirement years.
Membership of Gawler U3A is open to any person over the age of 50, who has ceased full-time employment, accepts the purpose and objectives of the association and agrees to be bound by its rules as expressed in the constitution, and has paid the prescribed entry fee. Persons not meeting the age criterion may be accepted, subject to the discretion of the committee.
Constitution and Members Handbook
The constitution details for our members and others, who may be interested, the objects, management and other conditions under which Gawler U3A operates, and generally the reasons for its existence. The Committee, in consultation with leaders, has also developed a set of guidelines, to assist and inform leaders and members of procedures to be followed at U3A activities.

Membership Fees
Fees for 2025 are:
- $40 for the full year or $70 for two members residing at the same address
- $20 for half year (terms 3 and 4)
- $10 for term 4.
The membership fee is non-refundable.
A concessional full year fee (50%) applies if you are a member of another U3A Branch. Members paying the reduced fee have all the benefits of fully paid membership except voting rights.
Please note some activities make incur an extra fee to cover additional costs.
Payment
Important When making any payment by direct debit please ensure you use your Surname & Initials along with a very brief description for the payment as the reference. E.g Smith A B 2025 Membership, Smith AB Friday Foray 1/1/25, etc. This will ensure we can correctly identify payments to Gawler U3A.

Applying for or Renewing Membership or Enrolling in a new Activity
Membership Applications / Renewals can be submitted using the online form (link at bottom of this section) or by downloading the pdf form. Your membership /renewal application will be processed after we have received payment of the applicable fee.
Important Information – Please read before completing the form
- New and Renewing Members complete sections 1 to 7.
- Existing Members wishing to enroll in a new activity complete section 1, 2 & 6. Use this option if you wish to join a new activity during the year.
- Information collected will be kept confidential except for communication or emergencies.

Changing Membership Details
Existing members who wish to advise Gawler U3A of a change of membership details (e.g. moved residence, change in emergency contact details etc.) can use the online change form. Click here to access the online form or alternatively email the Secretary at u3agawler@gmail.com with the new details.
